The number of people in Canada on Employment Insurance has gone down from the end of 2015 to April this year.

There were roughly 8,000 fewer beneficiaries of EI as of April of 2016.

The numbers for Saskatchewan have also decreased steadily since December 2015, with the most recent data showing 16,400 people on Employment Insurance in the province, 650 of which from Lloydminster.

However, numbers have gone up for Alberta. April’s numbers, which were just released June 22, show the number of EI beneficiaries in Alberta at 67,860 people, compared to 62,710 at the end last year.

Lloydminster residents in Alberta represents 540 beneficiaries of that total, up 130 recipients since December 2015.
