New CareAvan ready to roll

A new 2025 Toyota Sienna van is ready to roll for the Border City Connects CareAvan medical trips.

Clients needing essential non-emergency medical transport will be able to travel in the new vehicle which is replacing a 2015 van that has put on over 350,000 kilometres.

The community efforts of the Lloydminster Region Health Foundation (LRHF) is helping with a contribution of $30,000.

“We are proud of our collaborative partnership with Border City Connects. The enhancement to healthcare their organization provides by providing to both in and out of town medical appointments has a profound impact on residents of our region,” says Stephanie Munro, CEO.

Interim Executive Director of Border City Connects, Mike Sidoryk says, “The support from the LRHF was critical to helping us replace this high-mileage unit so we can continue offering safe, reliable transportation to those needing to reach vital medical appointments.”

The new van is a welcomed addition to the CareAvan fleet which has five dedicated transport vehicles. Two of these are wheelchair-accessible.

Sidoryk is also high in praise of the 50 people who took to the ice for a whole day in this year’s Play It Forward hockey fundraiser which brought in over $70,000.

Volunteer drivers put in over 4,000 hours last year completing 424 medical trips between Saskatoon, Edmonton, Camrose, Wainwright, Marwayne and surrounding areas.
