The Lloydminster and District Cooperative and Synergy Credit Union are both chipping in towards Bea Fisher’s next client van.
The wheelchair-accessible van is already on order, but a welcome donation of $28,000 from the Synergy and $10,000 in fuel gift cards from Lloyd Coop is bringing the new vehicle within closer reach of Bea Fisher, that helps some 120 people with various abilities to live a full life.
“The vast majority of them need assistance being transported to medical appointments, shopping, visiting friends or family. You know the same sort of things that you and I need to get around town for,” says Kim Crocket, marketing and business development coordinator with Bea Fisher.
Crockett estimates they have raised just over $60,000 to date but need another $100,000 for the van.
“It’s makes a big difference just getting this far,” says Crockett as he alludes to more fundraisers being planned for later in the year.
“We will be bringing back our pickleball, which was really the start of our fundraising last year. And we have a special ladies event (being) planned,” adds Crockett.
“Bea Fisher does so much in our community. This really is such a key piece of getting the individuals they are supporting to where they need to go, whether that is to appointments or places in the community.”
Brendan Poliakiwski, branch manager for Synergy Lloydminster, says they are thrilled to support the Bea Fisher effort.
“Bea Fisher is an amazing organization in our community that so many individuals rely on for their transportation around town for both medical appointments and personal commitments. Synergy is very pleased and excited to get behind a $28,000 donation to Bea Fisher for the purchase of their van, and some of the additional marketing costs for the van, like logos.”
Anyone wishing to contribute to the ongoing effort can get in touch with Bea Fisher. More details on the fundraising projects will be forthcoming.
