The Cenovus Energy Hub entertainment centre is getting $15,000 from the Saskatchewan Summer Games Legacy Fund for its Fill the Seats fundraising.
“This funding, made possible through the success of the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games, represents more than just dollars – it’s an investment in a project that will leave a lasting legacy for our community and region,” said Co-Chairs Wendy Plandowski and Aaron Rawlake.
The Fill the Seats campaign indicates it has raised $6 million to date as it aims to cover $8 million of the $101 million entertainment centre.
“I am proud to see the success of the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games contribute to the growth of our community through the Fill the Seats campaign,” said Mayor Gerald Aalbers. “The $15,000 contribution from the Summer Games Legacy Fund Program will help support the development of Cenovus Energy Hub, supporting sport, recreation, and culture for years to come.”
The Cenovus Energy Hub, when fully complete will encompass:
- Primary arena with seating for 2,500, expandable up to 4,500 for concerts and events with floor seating
- NHL-sized indoor ice surface with seating for up to 500
- A third outdoor ice surface adjacent to the building, which functions as a basketball court in the summer
