Family Fun Fest at Weaver Park, May 31

With the United Church of Canada celebrating its centennial on June 10, locally, Grace United Church will host a Family Fun Fest at Weaver Park on May 31 to mark the occasion.

Alice Robinson chairs the planning team. She shares the celebration is two-fold, with a church service on June 1 and the family picnic on May 31.

“What will be available is old-fashioned children’s games that the museum will be operating with some of our youth helping out. We will have a live band – the Prairie Dogs. They will be playing several stints of music throughout the day. We will also be providing hot dogs, buns, and snacks.”

Details on the Indigenous component for the day are still being finalized, adds Robinson.

Another fan favourite of going to Weaver Park is homemade ice cream.

“They have their old-fashioned ice cream churns. So, that will be prepared and available to all who come in,” says Robinson, adding the event “is open to the community.”

It’s a come and go event, and the museum buildings like Rendell House will be open. The celebration runs from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Centennial Church Service to celebrate the United Church of Canada will be Sunday, June 1 from 10:00 a.m. at Grace United.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
