Kidnapping suspect facing charges in Meadow Lake

A man who is accused of kidnapping a woman is facing charges in Meadow Lake.

Mike Bouvier, 24 years from Canoe Narrows is charged with:

  • One count, kidnapping with a firearm
  • One count, pointing a firearm
  • One count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • One count, uttering threats
  • One count, assault
  • One count, unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • One count, theft of motor vehicle

Bouvier is due in Meadow Lake Provincial Court on May 20, 2025.

On May 15 at about 11:00 p.m., Loon Lake RCMP received a report that a woman may have been taken against her will on Island Lake First Nation (Ministikwan).

Investigators determined a man entered a home with a gun and took the woman with him. Police say the man and woman were travelling in a vehicle.

Saskatchewan RCMP issued a dangerous person alert at 10:25 a.m., on May 16 for Island Lake First Nation and surrounding areas.

At about 12:40 p.m., Saskatchewan RCMP found vehicle abandoned off Highway 699, between Island Lake First Nation and Loon Lake. The vehicle had previously been reported as stolen from Canoe Narrows.

Saskatchewan RCMP Police Dog Services and Remotely Piloted Aircraft System were brought in to help search the forest for the man and the woman.

The man was found and arrested. The woman was found shortly after and was assessed by EMS for injuries described as non-life-threatening.

Officers seized an airsoft handgun and an inoperable firearm.

Saskatchewan RCMP then canceled the dangerous person emergency alert.

Several RCMP detachments, Saskatchewan RCMP’s North Battleford Provincial General Investigation Section, Meadow Lake Combined Traffic Services, Meadow Lake Police Dog Services, and the Saskatchewan RCMP Critical Incident Response Team combined to find the victim and arrest the suspect.

Officers thank members of the media and the public for their assistance in this investigation.
