Lloydminster Mayor Gerald Aalbers is confirming that he was not contacted by anyone from Stingray Broadcasting before the demise of the local television stations, CKSA-CITL.
Mayor Aalbers states that he did not receive advanced notice from Stingray about the closure of the local TV station and that the news came as a total surprise.
In a CBC news report, Stingray president, Steve Jones suggests that a regional representative of the company communicated with the mayor, but in that story, the mayor does not concur with that assessment.
Aalbers also says he is “disappointed to see it reported that he had been in conversation with a Stingray representative. This is simply not true.”
The mayor is also unaware of any attempt by Stingray to communicate with the City of Lloydminster prior to the May 13 closure of the iconic television station.
