Cenovus Energy Hub gets another $7 million

Lloydminster city council has approved about a $7 million increase in a borrowing bylaw to support the construction of the Cenovus Energy Hub event and recreation facility, which is to be completed this fall.

The council increased the borrowing limit from $33,000,000 to $40,380,926, which provides an extra “$7,380,926 of borrowing for the construction of the Multi-use Recreational and Event Facilities.”

The new budget adjusts the cost of the project to just over $96 million, according to council documents on May 20, 2025, as shown in the chart below:
