With Sexual Violence Awareness Month being observed, the Lloydminster Sexual Assault Services (LSAS) wants to address the issue from the perspective of having the conversation.
While sexual violence may still be a taboo topic for some its important to raise awareness by talking about the reality.
LSAS points out that:
- One in two girls will experience some form of sexual violence before the age of 18 years
- One in four boys will experience some form of sexual violence before the age of 18 years
- In Alberta, two in three women, and one in three men have experienced sexual violence in their lifetime
