Lloyd Comp truck and car show, June 4

It’s that time of the year again for the roar of the engines and the sound of the car stereo cranked up from the Lloydminster Comprehensive parking lot.

The high school students will show of their mechanical skills and jam out to their favourite tunes on Wednesday June 4.

Over 20 student competitors and several businesses are involved. The Just Kruzin’ Car club will be showing off its vehicles and judging the competitors.

The vehicles will face the judges in mid-morning. The students will check out the cars over the lunch break around 12:20 p.m. with results from the contest being announced in early afternoon at about 12:50 p.m.

The yearly car show dates back to the 1990s and apart from the bragging rights, there is the prospect of students being apprenticed to local auto shops.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
