Servus Credit Union is Canada’s largest credit union

Servus Credit Union with a branch in Lloydminster is now Canada’s largest credit union with assets under management of $38.4 billion and total assets at $29.4 billion as of March 2025.

Since completing its merger with connectFirst Credit Union on May 1, 2024, the credit union has been recognized by the Canadian Credit Union Association (CCUA), as hitting the milestone, according to the 2024 data.

The achievement surpasses Vancity Credit Union in B.C., which has some $36 billion under management with an asset base of $28.3 billion.

“Becoming Canada’s largest credit union is a remarkable milestone, but our real strength lies in the long game — we will continue to make deliberate decisions to build lasting success for the good of our credit union and members, to progress the future of cooperative banking in Alberta,” says Ian Burns, President and CEO of Servus Credit Union.

Servus has more than 140 branches serving more than half a million members across 80 communities.

Gerry has lived in Lloydminster since winter 2010. That detail is important as coming from the Caribbean he did not see green grass until May. Now an Alberta/Western Canada resident, you would be hard-pressed to find a stronger proponent of Lloydminster than the news guy that appreciates a healthy dose of rock music and dress code leather. His mantra is focus on one thing and do it well.
