One of the biggest events of the summer will host some 4,000 people at Bud Miller Park on June 21 for the 4th Annual Filipino Fest.
Organizers with the United Filipino-Canadians in Lloydminster and Surrounding Area say the theme is “Pinoy Ako, Saan Mang Bahagi Ng Mundo” – Promoting Unity and Camaraderie among Filipino-Canadian Community by Knowing by Heart, Philippine custom, tradition and culture.”
“This celebration is the tie that binds Filipinos from a region or an area together, a time to reunite with our extended family and our kababayans (countrymen). It is a time to rejoice in friendship, share our blessing and showcase the Filipino talent,” notes Dowsan Antonio, event planner.
Set up of vendors areas will begin after 5:00 a.m. in preparation for the parade at 9:00 a.m. The day’s cultural festivities run until 10:00 p.m. with the clear up period going until the park closes at 11:00 p.m.
The group includes some 20 Philippine provincial groups, Filipino-Canadian churches, organizations, fraternities, sports club, employee/friends group and other volunteer groups in the City of Lloydminster and area.
