The Lloydminster Concerned Citizens for Seniors Care is getting a new president.
The group which is spearheading the campaign to replace the Jubilee Seniors Home is also holding its AGM next Monday, June 16.
Graham Brown who has served for 10 years, is stepping down and being replaced by John Erkelens who has served previously on the board including in the role of secretary.
“It’s a great organization trying to make healthcare better for our community and our seniors. And that’s pretty important,” says Brown.
The outgoing president will be staying on as an active member and has a president’s report to deliver at the AGM along with fellow board members who will submit similar reports.
“We will be electing two new board members, and from that we will nominate our executive who will go forward for the next year and continue leading this group.”
The board has nine members and three are changed every year.
“I’m looking forward to working with this group as the president. I don’t have the connections or the knowledge of folks like Graham, Ruby Trudel, and Darrell Dunn. I’ll be relying on them.”
Erkelens extends his gratitude to Graham Brown for being a force and moving healthcare forward in Lloydminster.
“A lot of credit goes to Graham for what we currently have.”
The incoming president has also been a member of the AHS Seniors and Continuing Care Advisory Council.
A replacement for the Jubilee Home will remain at the top of the agenda going into the fall.
The Concerned Seniors will host a barbecue at the Jubilee Home on Thursday, June 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Its final meeting before the summer break is June 17 at the Legacy Centre.
