Premier extends condolences to people of Nice, France

The Alberta Premier has issued a statement following yesterday’s tragedy in Nice, on France’s National Day.

At least 84 people died in the incident where a lorry slammed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern French city.

About 50 others were injured, 18 of them critically, as the driver plowed on through the crowds for nearly 2 kilometers.

The French President has said the attack was of “an undeniable terrorist nature.”

Rachel Notley offered her sympathies for the French city, the victims, and their families, on behalf of the province, saying that Albertans stand in solidarity with the people of France.
