With the completion of restoration work on the town’s iconic landmark, Wainwright’s Centennial Clock Celebration is planned for Saturday, September 13.
The renos began in May with “meticulous masonry work, including re-pointing, patching, joint replacement, and the cleaning of both concrete and fieldstone elements.”
Damaged arches and joints were repaired, and the bronze plaques were professionally restored.
The town enhanced the site with new lighting and flower planters at the base of the tower.
“All work was carried out with great care and respect, aiming to return the structure to its original 1925 condition while preserving its historical and commemorative significance,” says the town in a statement.
Unveiled in 1925, the clock tower is a tribute to those who served Canada both in war and in global peacekeeping.

Everyone is invited to visit the beautifully restored landmark and join in the 100th anniversary celebrations on Sep. 13.
The ceremony begins at 2:30 p.m. with a barbecue and live entertainment at the Legion Hall from 4:00 p.m.
