Lloydminster Comprehensive High School is gearing up for two One-Act plays this December.
“Due to high demand, we are hosting two showings of the grade 10 production on December 9th,” says drama teacher, Christine Brochu. Performances of Lord of the Choir—a one-act comedy by Don Zolidis and a parody of Lord of the Flies—will run at 6:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Baron’s Court Theatre.
Synopsis
On a camping trip meant to bring their choir together, the eccentric choir teacher, Miss Kittridge, rewards those she deems talented and leaves the rest to fight for her approval, as well as s’mores. When the bus breaks down, cell service is lost, the snacks start to dwindle, and Kittridge abandons the group to find a handsome, rugged truck-driver to save them. The “in-over-her-head” student-teacher, Miss Brittany, watches the choir splinter before her very eyes.
“It’s Sopranos vs. Altos vs. Tenors vs. Basses in a fight to survive #choirmaggedon2025,” says Brochu.

Second Play
The grade 12 students take the stage December 11 at 6:00 p.m. with In-Laws, Outlaws, and Other People (That Should Be Shot) by Steve Franco.
“It features our Drama 30 Performers as a dysfunctional family gathering together for the holidays. If that isn’t stressful enough, some unexpected guests arrive at their doorstep, and the annual Christmas dinner quickly devolves into a comedic hostage situation,” Brochu adds.
The teacher notes, “It’s ridiculous, humorous, but with a heart at its centre, this play will help you reflect on how you, too, can navigate any challenge that socializing during the holiday season might throw your way.”
Both shows promise laughter and festive fun for the community. The plays are open to everyone and admission is by donation.
