Drunk driver pulled over with 3.5 times the legal limit, kids in vehicle

Police in Airdrie have charged a 46 year old man for impaired driving.

On August 14, police received a call about a Dodge Caravan which had been driving erratically in the southbound lanes of Highway 2. After the caller provided a detailed description of the vehicle, police were able to intercept it on the highway close to Yankee Valley Boulevard, and subsequently looked into the driving pattern, while noticing the driver was showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, the man was arrested and taken to the Airdrie RCMP detachment, where he blew over 3.5 times the legal limit.

“The concerning nature of this impaired is that three children under the age of 10 were in the vehicle at the time of the offense.  All three children were returned to a family member following the arrest of the driver.” said Constable Matt Gervais, in the news release.

“This is another great example of citizens calling 911 after noticing unusual driving behavior to help remove another impaired driver from our roadway.”

 

The driver will be appearing in court at a later date.
