Eight successful applicants to the City’s CHIP

Eight applicants to the City’s Community Housing Initiative Program (CHIP) in 2016 will receive assistance in buying a new home.

Overall, the CHIP committee had 36 Lloydminster residents apply. The program offers a down-payment grant for citizens who are community-minded and need a bit of help towards purchasing a home.

The 8 eight successful applicants had to complete a home ownership training program, provide proof of mortgage approval for the CHIP condo unit and their portion of the down payment of 24 per cent.

The Community Housing Initiative Program was launched in October of 2013 as a way to help community members with moderate income. The project began through partnership between the Saskatchewan Government, the City of Lloydminster, Glencoe Developments, Musgravve Agencies, and Synergy Credit Union.

Since the start of the program, 67 applications have been submitted, and 13 people have been successful in receiving the available assistance.

The program continues with the cooperation and contributions of a number of community partners: Century 21 Lloydminster Realty, Coldwell Banker City Side Realty, Creative Realty, DFW Construction, Mac’s Realty Ltd., Politeski Strilchuk Milen, Real Estate Centre, and RE/MAX Lloydminster.
