Two dead in accident on Highway 12 near Stettler

On August 26, 2016 at approximately 2 o’clock p.m., 2 vehicles collided head-on, traveling on Highway 12, between Erskine and Stettler.

Settler RCMP as well as Fire and EMS crews were dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, one of the vehicle’s drivers had already died. The passenger of the same vehicle died shortly thereafter. The driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle was transported to Settler Hospital by EMS, with minor injuries.

Police are currently working to identify the deceased, to notify next of kin. At this time, it is not believed that alcohol or drugs were a factor in causing the collision.

The identity of the driver taken to hospital will not be released, while the identities of the decedents will be released upon confirmation and notification of next of kin, and charges will then be considered upon the completion of the investigation.
