Fatal rollover in Meadow Lake

Two people have died following a single vehicle rollover just outside Meadow Lake.

On August 27, 2016 at approximately 2:40 a.m., Meadow Lake RCMP members were responding to a another call when they came across a single vehicle rollover, approximately 3 kilometers north of Meadow Lake, on Highway 4.

The vehicle was observed about 60 to 70 meters east of the roadway in a field. Once at the vehicle, members located two injured people inside: a 22-year old male and a 15-year-old female. A 20-year-old male and a 16-year-old female were also found near the vehicle who are believed to have been ejected.

Meadow Lake Fire and Ambulance attended and all injured were transported to the hospital. The 20-year-old male driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. As well, a collision reconstructionist conducting an initial investigation, using an unmanned aerial vehicle, located a 19-year-old male deceased a distance northwest from the vehicle. It is believed he was ejected from the vehicle as well.

Autopsies have been ordered for both males and will occur next week. All individuals are from the Meadow Lake area. The investigation is ongoing with the assistance of an RCMP Collision Deconstructionist. Traffic has not been affected on Highway 4 despite investigators on-site.

Meadow Lake RCMP have indicated they will not be releasing pictures.
