Chamber of Commerce urges federal government to reduce barriers to relocation

The Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce is asking the federal government to make it easier for people to move to find employment. At the Chamber’s annual meeting and policy session, held in Charlottetown, PEI, the commerce approved a policy named “Incentives to Re-locate”. The policy will be recommended to the federal government, and asks them to make changes to the EI program to incentivize unemployed Canadians to move to where the jobs are, reduce existing barriers to relocation, and raise awareness of support programs that advertise areas with labour shortages to the unemployed. Lloydminster Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Pat Tenney said that if Canadians are going to be considered first for available jobs, they must have incentives to move to where jobs are available.
