LPSD announces program to help behavioural issues

The Lloydminster Public School Division has introduced a new measure to deal with challenging behaviours. Targeted Skills Teachers have been brought on board in every elementary and middle school in Lloydminster, to work collaboratively with teachers to handle challenging behaviours before they arise. TSTs help students by teaching them friendship and problem-solving skills, as well as techniques to self-regulate their emotions and focus. The school division says that success of the model is already being seen, as children are showing an increased desire to learn and succeed. School administrators also report fewer office referrals and behavioural issues.
