Thunderblanket found deceased in Revelstoke

UPDATE 2: RCMP have confirmed that when Thunderblanket was located, he was found deceased. A full investigation into what took place is now ongoing by the B.C Coroner Service. He was found east of Revelstoke, in the area that police were searching to find him.

UPDATE: According to the City of Revelstoke, RCMP have confirmed the suspect has been located. The search has been discontinued and the RCMP will continue with their investigation.

RCMP have named Sheldon Thunderblanket as the suspect in another shooting.

Thunderblanket, who is wanted on charges of first-degree murder as well as attempted murder in Saskatchewan, has been the subject of a police manhunt since an incident took place on Little Pine First Nation in previous days. According to police, Thunderblanket shot a female officer of the RCMP in the arm near Golden, British Columbia, after a traffic stop on Tuesday afternoon. The officer remains in hospital.

Police were searching throughout the night for Thunderblanket, but were not able to locate him. A stolen vehicle connected to the shooting was located late Tuesday night, outside the community of Revelstoke.

In the wake of the incident, police have renewed their request for public assistance to find Thunderblanket.  He is described as an aboriginal male, who is five-foot-six and 209 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. RCMP urge anyone who encounters him not to approach and to call 911 immediately.

Investigative units in Saskatchewan are now working with the RCMP in British Columbia on the case.
