Lloydminster Youth Council start fresh year

The youth council of the Border City has gotten in gear for the school year.

According to a news release issued by the council, the group has grown to a total of 21 young Lloydminster residents taking part in the program. Meetings of the council have started, and the first official event that the council will be holding is the swearing in of the new council.

The release also states that the council will be focusing on youth initiatives such as drug awareness, as well as the holding of a talent show, a Valentines Day dance, and an “Amazing Race” in Lloydminster. This will also be the first full year the group will be active.

The council is made up of three elected positions, which were decided by the outgoing council of last year. Leah Boyer was elected as the Chair, Dustin Snider as the Co-Chair, and Billie Sarcoga as the Secretary. Two additional coordinators are also part of the body, along with a steering committee to help guide the youth.
