Border City sold out of pumpkins

If you’re looking to get a last-minute jack-o’-lantern in Lloydminster, you may be out of luck.

Chatter on social media in the city has shown residents are talking about a lack of pumpkins in the run-up to Halloween. Numerous residents have indicated that every major grocery store in Lloydminster reportedly sold out of the larger pumpkins which are usually made into the seasonal decorations.

In an effort to confirm whether or not the pumpkin supply has truly dried up in the Border City, 106.1 The Goat called each major grocery store in Lloydminster this afternoon.

According to the customer service desks of Safeway, Sobey’s, the Lloydminster Co-op Marketplace, Walmart, and the Real Canadian Superstore, the pumpkins are gone, and the shipments are finished.

However, if you’re in desperate need of a pumpkin for tonight’s trick or treaters, both the Vermilion Co-op and Harps Family Foods still have some in stock. According to the stores, the Co-op had “five bins full” and Harps had exactly five large pumpkins.
