Remembrance Day ceremony fills local high school

Residents of the Border City remembered our veterans today.

The annual civic ceremony for Remembrance Day was held at the Lloydminster Comprehensive High School. The event started off at 10:35 a.m., when the colours were marched into the gym by the local branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. After the colours were in place, the roll of honour was read.

After the playing of the Last Post, the lament, and the reveille, the recitation of “For the Fallen” was by Al Hemingway, district three commander for the Royal Canadian Legion. The depositing of the colours and a meditation by Reverend Paul Duval soon followed. The laying of wreaths took place next, after which the colours were marched out of the gym.

Doves, symbolizing peace, were released at the front of the school, surrounded by the colours.

Attendees were invited to the Legion hall after the ceremony was finished.
