Saskpower reaching out to renewable energy suppliers

SaskPower wants to see more renewable energy in Saskatchewan’s future.

An information session held in Saskatoon today on the topic, hosted by SaskPower and the Ministry of Economy

According to a release from the corporation, it provided an opportunity for renewable power suppliers to learn more about where they fit in regarding increasing Saskatchewan’s renewable power supply.

Those who attended the session learned more SaskPower’s plans for renewable power, the different opportunities for developers and suppliers, as well as the project requirements.

The session also marked the first chance for many Saskatchewan vendors to connect with independent power producers.

Grant Ring, SaskPower Vice President, Procurement and Supply Chain says that SaskPower “wanted to be out talking to potential suppliers in the early stages of our plan, so that independent power producers and potential suppliers are aware of the opportunities available and the requirements that we’ll have as we grow our supple of renewable power”.

The overall plan is to increase Saskatchewan’s renewable power supply up to 50% by 2030.
