Britannia Fire Department to be celebrated tomorrow night

The Britannia Fire Department will be getting unveiled tomorrow night.

The department was formed after the splitting-up of the Britannia-Wilton Fire Department, and will be led by Chief John Bexson. Bexson previously served as the chief for the BWFD, and recently received an award for 25 years of service. The RM of Britannia has said they feel lucky to have him leading the department.

The forming of the Britannia Fire Department was guided by a committee, which has been working in the past months to get the department up and running. They will be operating out of the former BWFD hall, located east of Lloydminster along Highway 16. All of the existing BWFD equipment has been retained by the Britannia Fire Department, and the RM is currently determining what will be kept and what will be sold.

Tomorrow night, the council of Britannia and Bexson are inviting the public to an event at the hall, where Bexson will be introducing the team. Starting time is 7 p.m.
