Saskatchewan government under fire over Dr. Cooke facility

The Saskatchewan government is being taken to task over its decision to proceed with the demolition of a wing of the Dr. Cooke Extended Care Centre. NDP Health Critic Danielle Chartier called out Health Minister Dustin Duncan during question period over the government’s lack of action, and Duncan replied that the facility is owned by Alberta Health Services. Chartier says that this is an unacceptable excuse, since the government has a memorandum of understanding of delivery of healthcare with the government of Alberta. Alberta Health Services plans to replace the 55-bed wing with a 60-bed facility, but Chartier says that seniors in Lloydminster need many more beds than that.
