With construction season in full swing, highway work zones are setting up across Saskatchewan.
Highways and Infrastructure Minister David Marit says, “if you encounter a work zone that is not set up properly or has signs blown over, please contact the ministry at 306-244-5535.”
He adds, “please remember there is no reason to speed through a work zone.”
The Saskatchewan Government says the lay out for a highway work zone should be:
- Orange sign, with a black image of a worker and the words ‘Workers Present.’
- A black and white speed limit sign.
- The work zone.
- ‘End of Work Area’Â sign.
- Speed limit sign.
However, there may be cases where there are hazards in the work zone, such as a sharp pavement drop or loose stones, therefore the speed limit will be set at 60 km/hr even when workers are not present.
There is a weekly construction update is published on the Government of Saskatchewan website.
