Two Officers Suffer Minor Injuries as Driver Flees Scene

One officer was struck and another dragged a short distance while investigating a stolen vehicle at a local service station as the driver was fleeing the scene.

Both officers have minor injuries but did not require treatment. The incident occurred late yesterday afternoon. Police say the driver sped off, going southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 17 and they didn’t go after the stolen vehicle “due to the reckless and dangerous nature of the driver’s actions.”

The stolen vehicle was found a short time later.

Jason Walter Callan from Lloydminster is facing several charges including:

  • Dangerous Driving
  • Two counts of Assault on Police with a weapon
  • Possession of Stolen Property over $5000
  • Resisting Arrest

The whereabouts of the 41 year old are currently unknown.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lloydminster RCMP Detachment at (780) 808-8400. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call Crime Stoppers at 1.800.222.8477.
