Haying Progressing According to Saskatchewan Weekly Crop Report

According to Saskatchewan’s Weekly Crop Report, 19% of the hay crop is cut and 10% baled or put into silage. With the quality of the hay mainly being rated as good.

One of the problems facing producers is rain. Overall, crop development across the province is on par, but some are behind due to lack of rain. However, in the North some areas are having issues with too much moisture.

Most areas are wrapping up in-crop herbicide application and are starting to move on to applying fungicide.

Over the past week there was eight reports of farm equipment coming into contact with power lines according to SaskPower. There were 37 incidents in June, bringing the total for the year to 176.
