Mount Joy Getting Ready For Another Ski Season

Mount Joy is getting ready to open their hill for another season.

“We’ll probably open it up right after Christmas, into the beginning of January because we have volunteers with various family and other commitments over Christmas, it’s just kind of busy to get it started before then,” says Dean Peters, President of the Mount Joy Ski Resort Board.

He adds they are hoping to build on a good season from last year.

“We’re looking to build more snow this year and be able to move that snow, we’re looking to add more risers to add more snow across the hill. We shut down one weekend last winter when the temperature got too high and we had a river run in front of the chalet, we’ve done some dirt work there this year to prevent that.”

The hill is looking to have events throughout the year.

“We’re going to have a terrain park and a few events throughout the year, much the same as last year, we’re still developing some of those programs.”

Peters says, “we’ve got a lot of hard working volunteers out there and they’re eager to see everyone come out and enjoy the hill this year.”
