As temperatures plummet nationwide, Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for The Battlefords and the entire surrounding area including Unity, St. Walburg and Maidstone.
The extreme windchill, as low as -40, will likely remain over the area into the weekend. Extreme cold creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia. Environment Canada says residents should dress in several warm layers and take lots of breaks indoors if working outside. They also say you should keep emergency supplies in your vehicle such as extra blankets and jumper cables.
Lloydminster and surrounding area is also under an extreme cold warning. A full list of effected areas can be found on Environment Canada’s website.
