Some outdoor skating facilities now open

The City of Lloydminster says the Husky Speed Skating Oval and a section of Bud Miller Lake are now safe for skating.

Barricades have been put in place to mark areas safe for use at Bud Miller All Seasons Park.  The public is advised to stay clear of marked sections until maintenance crews can ensure their safety. Residents are also being told some outdoor surfaces may be in rough condition due to weather changes and discretion is recommended before skating.

The City is also reminding residents to stay away from retention lakes that look frozen because sudden temperature changes can cause the strength and thickness of the ice to be variable. People are asked to follow the warning signs surrounding retention lakes and to keep kids and pets away from the bodies of water.

The city will providing more updates on their website as outdoor skating conditions improve.
