LSAIC marking 35th anniversary with Little Italy Gala

The Lloydminster Sexual Assault and Information Centre is marking 35 years this year, and would like the public to join them in celebrating their time as a non-profit.

The centre will be hosting the Little Italy Gala fundraiser February 10th. The night will feature an Italian meal and live entertainment which the centre says is to give back to the community who has kept them running.

LSAIC Training and Development DirectorĀ  Heather Sinfield says all ticket proceeds will be going towards the Little BearĀ Child and Youth Advocacy Centre, which is still in development stages.

“It’s a space within our building that’s designed for a multidisciplinary approach to support children and youth who have been affected by abuse. They can access all sorts of services from doing the interview with RCMP or Child and Family, connecting with crown prosecutors during their court preparation, working with advocates.”

Sinfield says all the assistance the community has provided over 35 years has had an impact and they are thankful for it.

“We see the difference in terms of support when a survivor is able to access our centre and move through the steps of healing. It’s just a whole well rounded circle of approach. So if the community bands together it means that one person or one family can feel that.”

Tickets to the event can be purchased at the Lloydminster Sexual Assault Centre or on their Eventbrite page.
