One person dead at Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation house fire

Loon Lake RCMP say they have one fatality at the scene of a house fire on the Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation.

Fire crews and police responded to the fire at approximately 3 A.M. Sunday. The home had been evacuated and a group of people had been treated for minor injuries. A 32-year old woman was unaccounted for and has still not been located.

The Office of the Chief Coroner has ordered an autopsy scheduled for today to determine the identity of the individual. The cause of the fire is still under investigation with assistance from RCMP Major Crimes Unit North.
