Red Deer man convicted in murder of two Lloydminster area women

Gordon Alfred Rogers was sentenced Friday to life in prison with no chance of parole for 17 years for the killing of  Jeanette Chief and Violet Heathen.

Chief’s body was discovered in June 2007 in a rural area, and Heathen’s remains were found near Kitscoty in 2009. Police arrested Rogers in March of 2016 and he was charged with first degree murder.

He eventually plead guilty to the lesser charge of second degree murder in September 2017.
