20 After Four owner weighs in on Stats Canada survey for pot prices

The federal government is crowdsourcing data through Stats Canada for pot prices before legalization later this year.

The survey launched about a week ago and is asking people for information such as how much you’re spending on marijuana, the amount you’re buying, the quality and the reason you’re using it. The survey has over 11,000 people responding so far.

The data results are divided into provinces and territories showing the average price per gram. Stats Canada is preferably asking people to respond if they’re using pot for non-medical purposes.

Owner of 20 after 4 in Lloydminster Ian Mccoy believes that this is a smart move on the governments part because they have to compete with the black market. For his business, Mccoy says the prices need to be compatible across the board to stay competitive.

“As long as the prices are good it should be huge like already we’re seeing an increase of people that haven’t done it for years and they’re coming in now saying oh well now that it’s gonna be legal I can do it.”

People are still weighing in to the anonymous survey, but as it stands currently the prairies average price for marijuana is $7.11 per gram.
