UPDATED: Extreme Cold Warning Issued for Lloydminster has ended

UPDATE: Environment Canada has ended the extreme cold warning for the city and surrounding area Friday afternoon.

Environment Canada has issued an extreme cold warning for Lloydminster and area.

The warning covers Wainwright, Vermilion and Provost among others as well. Temperatures are expected to get to 40 and below Thursday night and Friday morning.

Environment Canada warns that extreme cold puts everyone at risk of hypothermia and frostbite, especially young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

They urge residents to cover up if they have to go out and to bring their pets inside.
