Gerald Stanley found not guilty in death of 22-year old

Gerald Stanley has been found not guilty in the death of Colten Boushie.

The jury has been deliberating since Thursday afternoon and came to the decision Friday evening.

CBC reports that several people in the courtroom yelled “Murderer” seconds after the jury announced the verdict.

Boushie’s uncle Alvin Baptiste said to media that it’s not right the way the justice system treats First Nations people.

Stanley was charged with second-degree murder in August 2016 and could of been found either guilty of second-degree murder, guilty of manslaughter or not guilty.

Boushie’s family said they will appeal the decision until justice is served.
