Three people facing theft, weapons charges for copper theft

Three people, including a Lloydminster resident, are facing theft and weapons charges after copper was stolen in Frenchman Butte.

Early in the morning on February 14th, Maidstone and Turtleford RCMP received a call about the theft. Police were able to find the suspected vehicle, which turned out to have been reported stolen in November, just north east of Lloydminster. The suspects fled on foot after a tire deflation device was used. With the help of North Battleford police dogs, the suspects were found and arrested.

Two of the accused, 45 year old Robert Mckenzie from Kitscoty and 32 year old Jammi-Lynn Pierce from Lloydminster are facing charges including possession of a weapon, theft under $5,000 and breaking probation orders. Josh Thorne, a 24-year old from Islay, Alberta is also accused of theft under $5,000 and resisting arrest.

All three were remanded to Saskatchewan Provincial Court in Lloydminster on February 15.
