250 patients impacted by delayed referral letters: SHA

The Saskatchewan Health Authority is working on fixing referral letters that have been delayed in getting to patients.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) says they became aware of a process issue where a small number of referral and follow-up letters, including letters to specialist and the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency were delayed in distribution.

They are working with 3sHealth to fix the issue and the letters that were not sent have been sent out since being found. SHA says that there are 250 patients throughout the province who may have been impacted and an investigation is ongoing into the scope of the problem.

Patients who have been affected will be contacted directly by SHA where they will be told the next steps to take.
