Saskatchewan Hospital receives $1 million donation for New Beginnings Campaign

Saskatchewan Hospital in North Battleford unveiled a new pathway in recognition of a $1 million donation from philanthropists Irene and Leslie Dubé.

The Irene and Leslie Dubé Pathway to New Beginnings will be in the exterior corridor to welcome people into the hospital. Saskatchewan Health Authority CEO Scott Livingstone says the pathway will immediately create a positive experience for families and patients.

“This pathway is a powerful symbol of Saskatchewan Hospital’s transformation over the past 105 years, symbolizing the advances in mental health treatment.”

Leslie and Irene Dubé support a number of charitable causes in the health care field, specifically mental health initiatives. Director of Saskatchewan Hospital Linda Shynkaruk says that the hospital is the cornerstone of mental health services for people struggling with the illness and is the only psychiatric rehabilitation hospital in the province.

“The new building will enhance patient treatment programs, increase the number of beds and support the use of clinical best practices and evidence-based care.”

The Saskatchewan Hospital New Beginnings Campaign is at 75 per cent of its $8 million goal with this donation. The money raised through the campaign will go towards purchasing medial equipment and furnishings for the hospital, which is still under construction.
