R.M. Of Wilton making changes to weight restrictions

Trucks travelling through the R.M. of Wilton, 20 minutes south of Lloydminster, will have new weight restrictions to follow.

The updated rules come into effect Monday morning just after midnight. While most of the roadways are at 85% for Wilton Primary Weight, the same as Saskatchewan’s Primary Weight of 34,000 kilograms for a sixteen wheel truck and 42,000 kilograms for a 24 Wheeler, some roads need to bring the weight restrictions down further, and will have signs posted.

People moving large trucks through the area are also reminded that the steer axle weight will also be counted towards gross vehicle weight penalties. Vehicles moving above the posted weight, or needing a tri-steer permit must get approval from Northwest Municipal Services beforehand.

Anyone looking for more information on the restrictions can be found on the NWMS website.
