Paynton truck stop burns down, cause unknown

A truck stop restaurant has burned down in Paynton.

Early in the morning of Tuesday, April 21, Lloydmister and Maidstone RCMP arrivedĀ at the scene of a structure fireĀ atĀ the Paynton Truck Stop on Highway 16. Officers noted that the restaurant portion of the Truck Stop was engulfed in flames. While the Motel side was notĀ on fire,Ā responders decided to removeĀ anĀ employeeĀ sleeping inĀ the building by activating their siren. The employeeĀ informedĀ them that there wasĀ nobodyĀ else in the motel.

Paynton and Maidstone Fire Departments put out the blaze. There were no injuries, andĀ aĀ member ofĀ the Office of the Fire Commission is investigating.
