Paynton truck stop burns down, cause unknown

A truck stop restaurant has burned down in Paynton.

Early in the morning of Tuesday, April 21, Lloydmister and Maidstone RCMP arrived at the scene of a structure fire at the Paynton Truck Stop on Highway 16. Officers noted that the restaurant portion of the Truck Stop was engulfed in flames. While the Motel side was not on fire, responders decided to remove an employee sleeping in the building by activating their siren. The employee informed them that there was nobody else in the motel.

Paynton and Maidstone Fire Departments put out the blaze. There were no injuries, and a member of the Office of the Fire Commission is investigating.
