The details of an April kidnapping in Lloydminster are beginning to emerge.
On Thursday, April 16, the RCMP broke down the door of a room at the Manhattan Motor Inn to rescue a woman being held against her will by five people.
The Meridian Booster reports that in court, a statement from the 25-year-old victim of the kidnapping was read, saying that she was given a package of drugs to sell. When she refused, one of the kidnappers returned to her apartment to pick up the package. Noticing some of the drugs missing, the criminal became irate, kidnapping the woman and taking her to the hotel. The victim was also told that she would be sent to Edmonton to “work off” the debt. The victim managed to grab a phone, and was allowed to use the bathroom. From there, she texted her mother, who phoned the police.
Christopher Hermkens, 24, from Edmonton, Gordon Howard, 24, from Lloydminster, Traci Love, 41, from Lloydminster, Herbert McCullough, 26, of Lone Rock, and Jussara Junk, 22, from Edmonton each face 16 minimum charges, including; robbery, extortion, kidnapping, uttering threats, and assault.
