Know where your donations are going with SPCA Gifts for Paws

The SPCA offers many programs in Lloydminster for residents to get involved in helping animals.

The shelter has many options for donations including monthly giving, matching donations and Gifts for Paws. Executive Director Jon Pushon says Gift for Paws is a way for people donating to specifically choose and know where their money is going towards.

“If they donate $150 to a cat spay surgery, that’s going towards a cat spay surgery. Conversely, if they want to donate $50 towards and designate that to cover the cost of a health check and vaccination for an animal coming in, that’s what it’s going towards.”

The Gift for Paws program started halfway through 2016 and saw no donations. In 2017 there was an increase of around $300. Pushon adds that they have made donating more accessible for people who don’t want to head down the shelter or phone in.

“What we find is people like to be able to just go online to our website and donate directly. They don’t have to call in or leave their office they can just set it up online.”

The programs are based on other Humane Societies and SPCA’s across Canada that has had success.

“The more options for people to donate the better. There is a program for everyone.”

A full list of donation options can be found on the Lloydminster SPCA website.
