North Battleford’s Central Park is now sparkling

LED lights have been added to trees in North Battleford’s Central Park.

27 trees in the park now have lights wrapped around them that automatically turn on at dusk and turn off at dawn. These lights are the latest addition to the city’s efforts to restore the park in addition to new benches, pathways and giant compass installed last year.

The beautification project is part of the Downtown Revitalization Action Plan to make the public space more welcoming. The lights are also practical by improving lighting for residents in order to reduce the risk of accidents and injuries.

The city says they used Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design principles when adding the lights. They say brightly lit areas deter criminals and help reduce crime. The park is being updated to hold events and social gatherings.
