Victim Identified, suspect charged in Onion Lake stabbing

RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection to a stabbing at a residence in Onion Lake.

Police say they responded to a reported stabbing on August 11th around 7 am. Upon arrival, 28-year-old Tyson Crosschild was found in distress and EMS responded immediately with medical attention. Crosschild was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

The investigation is being conducted by the Major Crimes unit, North Battleford Forensics, North Battleford General Investigation with assistance from the Coroners office.

Onion Lake resident, 20-year-old Dakota Whitestone has been arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder and two counts of Breach of Recognizance.

Whitestone will appear in Lloydminster provincial court Monday morning.
